Wendy Van den Bulck
After studying Germanic Languages, Wendy spent 14 years pursuing her passion for communication and the dynamics of interpersonal relationships as a teacher of Dutch, German and English. She has also been passionate about horses since she was a child. This passion, however, was only a personal hobby until 2003. In that year, she became deeply interested in the horses’ natural behaviour, and in what we, as humans, can learn from their approach to communication and social structure. In 2010, Wendy founded her own business “Equoia”, and now she works as a coach and consultant. Equoia focuses on the effect of authentic leadership and dynamic balance at work, inspired by the high-performance structures of horse herds …
Horses respond to subtle communicative nuances (mind-set and behaviour), giving instant feedback and inviting immediate action. Within the herd, there is a harmonious structure of individuals that gets formed naturally – where each individual performs autonomously within the dynamics of the herd. This inspired Equoia to to have a solution-focused and innovative look at the set-up, management and functioning of organisations. Working towards “Connective Clarity” is a core component of agile organisations. This is brought about by “Unencumbered Communication©”. Unencumbered Communication© is a solution-focused leadership language in the broad sense: It encourages individuals to ensure greater clarity in the messages they communicate, which in turn leads towards constructive assertiveness. It helps bosses become leaders, and it encourages leaders to communicate more clearly and with greater awareness. It contributes to the establishment of an open feedback culture, and it helps ensure clear roles and responsibilities within teams.
Wendy works as trainer in different Flemish universities and organisations. In the north of Belgium, she has her own centre with horses and the infrastructure to facilitate individual or team coaching all year round. Every programme is made-to-measure.
